What
is Forensics?
Forensics seems to be widely misunderstood -- most people
ask why you would have a tournament in which you analyze evidence
from murders and burglaries. Well, that is forensic science.
Forensics is the witty, satirical, creative art of thinking
on your feet and making it seem like you have been practising
your speech for weeks.
Each
year, ISKL hosts the South East Asian Forensics Tournament.
Students may enter events such as solo acting, duet acting,
oral interpretation, original oratory, debate, impromptu and
extemporaneous speaking. Competition is between local schools
and a few international schools. Participating schools in
the past and present have included:
Assunta
Secondary School
Dalat School
Garden International School
International School of Kuala Lumpur
Methodist Boys School
Ruamrudee International School
Sekolah Menengah Convent Bukit Nanas
Sekolah Menengah La Salle
Sekolah Menengah Perempuan Bukit Bintang
Sri Inai Kuala Lumpur
Sri Inai Petaling Jaya
Kolej Tuanku Ja'afar, Mantin
Victoria Institution
International School of Beijing
Hong Kong International School
The
S.E.A. Forensics Tournament enables the development of students
in academic, artistic and cultural endeavors. Those involved
in the Forensics Tournament seek to create, promote and foster
cooperation among the member schools. They do so by providing
a forum for communication and discussion which
seeks to serve as an extension of each member's school program,
enhancing the development of the students and the organization.
The Tournament aims to develop speech and performance ability
among students while promoting and sustaining intercultural
connections.
